Defence Housing Australia (DHA) is a Government Business Enterprise operating under the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987. DHA reports to two shareholder Ministers, the Ministers for Defence and Finance, and has a Board of Directors.
DHA provides housing and related services for Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families. DHA delivers its products and services in a commercial environment with a Services Agreement as the contractual vehicle in place between Defence and DHA.
As managing director, you will have responsibility for the overall leadership and management of the organisation. You will work closely with the Chair, the Board and key stakeholders, including major government departments to deliver efficient and effective services in a market environment.
You will also play a critical role in setting the strategic direction of this commercial agency, which had revenues in excess of $1b in 2017/2018 and has more than 600 staff in 19 locations across all states and territories of Australia.
To be a strong contender for this role, you will need to be an experienced leader and manager with a substantial record of achievement, preferably in a large, complex and operationally devolved organisation and in a service delivery or property management field.
You will be an accomplished risk manager and have a good sense of business timing. You will also understand the political and public sector environment, have business acumen and be able to build strong relationships with key stakeholders. You must be able to demonstrate an ability to work to a Board of Directors, to be a sound financial manager and to lead a diverse group of senior managers and geographically dispersed staff.
