The Digital Transformation Agency has revealed a long list of finalists for this year’s Australian Government Digital Awards.

Among the contenders is the Department of Health’s Head to Health website, which brings a wide range of mental health services to one platform, including apps, online programs, phone services, and digital information resources. The department’s collaboration with Liquid Interactive and the Head to Health Core Community Group has already taken home an award this year, winning best in class at the Australian Good Design Awards. This time, it’s up for the outstanding digital methodology or approach category.

Another finalist is Transport NSW’s contactless transport payments, which has been nominated for the outstanding digital platform award. The contactless system was rolled out to include Sydney’s bus services today, meaning that fleeting tourists will no longer have to buy an Opal card to hop on a city bus, they just need a credit or debit card. The technology was installed in the state’s light rail, ferries and trains last year.

Over in Victoria, the Department of Premier and Cabinet’s Pick My Project initiative has been nominated for the outstanding digital methodology or approach award. The consultation platform lets locals vote on project ideas to improve their community. Victorians aged 16 and over can apply for project funding provided they apply with an eligible partner organisation, such as a community group, school, local council or government department.

The award ceremony will be held at a gala dinner on 3 October at the National Convention Centre Canberra. The event will follow the Digital Summit 2019.
