Haikerwal to head government’s health advisory body

Eminent e-health expert Dr Mukesh Haikerwal is the new chair of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, a statutory body advising government.

Health Minister Peter Dutton today announced Dr Mukesh Haikerwal as the new chair of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.

Haikerwal, who was most recently the National E-Health Transition Authority’s national clinical lead, began his term on July 19. Dutton said in a statement:

“Dr Haikerwal is highly respected in medical circles and is also an extremely experienced administrator. He will be a great asset to the AIHW, Australia’s premier source of data on health and welfare.
