New South Wales: Martin Hoffman

September 8: The Stewards of the Public Sector – On the Couch with Martin Hoffman.

The secretary of the NSW Department of Finance, Services & Innovation joins IPAA NSW’s On the Couch series of informal interviews, which uncovers the person behind the public sector role by examining their interests, influences, leadership styles and aspirations.

The session will examine Hoffman’s public sector roles which have focused on financial management, technology and innovation, and his experience in influential program delivery, his leadership style and personal background.

Victoria: Gill Callister

September 11: Integrity Forum.

IPAA Victoria brings together departmental and agency leaders at our one-day forum in an effort to build integrity in the Victorian Public Sector. Speakers include Special Minister of State Gavin Jennings, Department of Education and Training secretary Gill Callister, and Victorian Public Sector commissioner Belinda Clark.

Western Australia: Gail McGowan, Nina Lyhne

September 23: Shaping the Views at the Top.

An event for young professionals, this series offers a glimpse into the issues and ideas of key leaders across the public sector in WA. This event will feature Department of Planning director-general Gail McGowan, City of Vincent chief executive Len Kosova, and Department of Transport acting director-general Nina Lyhne.

Queensland: Liza Carroll

September 27: On the Couch with Liza Carroll.

Run by IPAA National and modelled on the NSW series, On the Couch invites the stewards of the public sector whose current role allows them a high degree of responsibility and influence over the future of the public sector to share their experiences. The next invitee will be Department of Housing and Public Works director-general Liza Carroll.

South Australia: Rick Persse, Sandy Pitcher

October 21-22: IPAA 2016 National Conference.

Attracting speakers from across the public sector jurisdictions around Australia, the IPAA National Conference is an unmissable event. Among the South Australian mandarins on the speakers list this year will be Department for Education and Child Development chief executive Rick Persee and Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources chief executive Sandy Pitcher.

ACT: Glenys Beauchamp, Kathy Leigh

November 10: IPAA ACT 2016 Conference.

IPAA ACT continues to grow its program and is back for another annual conference of public sector speakers to ask: what are the challenges facing the public sector in 2016 and how do we need to adapt? How does the broader global landscape affect public administration in Australia? Speakers this year include head of service for the ACT Public Service Kathy Leigh, Department of Industry, Innovation and Science secretary Glenys Beauchamp, CSIRO chief executive Larry Marshall, and Kim Beazley.
