The Director, Strategy is a newly created position within the Delivery Unit, a small dynamic team with the Strategy and Delivery division. The opportunity exists for a proven leader in strategic planning to lead the department-wide strategic planning and business planning activities and supports the building of capabilities across the Department.

  • The total remuneration package range for this role is $213,702 – $236,756 per annum

About the role
The Director, Strategy is a newly created position within the Delivery Unit, a small dynamic team with the Strategy and Delivery division. The opportunity exists for a proven leader in strategic planning to lead the department-wide strategic planning and business planning activities and supports the building of capabilities across the Department. Specifically you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing effective annual strategic planning cycle across the Department;
  • Driving executive engagement and sponsorship of the strategic plans and priorities for the business unit and Department;
  • Leading a cross-disciplinary team that supports and influences key project teams across the Department;
  • Collaboratively develop appropriate tools and resources to support improved strategic problem solving and decision-making; and
  • Ensuring best-practice approaches are considered from inside and outside the sector.

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent professional experience
  • Extensive experience in developing and/or implementing effective annual strategic planning cycles strategy formulation and strategic planning in large complex organisations (either public and private)
  • Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education and Training policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
