- Newly created senior leadership roles
- High-profile and influential federal government agency
- Flexible locations
- Attractive remuneration packages
The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) is the national regulator for Australia’s vocational education and training sector.
Pending the passage of legislation currently before the Commonwealth Parliament, ASQA is seeking applications from suitably qualified people for the following challenging and rewarding senior executive positions:
Executive General Manager, Quality & Risk (SES Band 2)
In this pivotal senior leadership role, you will work closely with the CEO to deliver the Agency’s vision and serve as ASQA’s Deputy CEO. You will have direct responsibility for the Registration and Risk and the Quality Assessment and Compliance Groups and will ensure that these functions combine to deliver effective regulation of the VET sector in Australia.
General Manager, Registration & Risk (SES Band 1)
Your primary responsibility in this position will be the identification and management of risk, be it from the time an organisation applies to become a provider of VET, when risk is signalled by intelligence and data, or when risk is realised and needs to be managed by ASQA. This will involve the leadership and management of multi-disciplinary teams including specialists in law, data analytics, intelligence and other disciplines.
General Manager, Quality Assessment & Compliance (SES Band 1)
In this key position you will be responsible for multiple teams assessing providers’ performance against mandated standards, using a range of mechanisms, including site and desk-based audits. The Group will also draw on a range of different regulatory responses to manage non-compliance in a proportionate, fair and risk-based manner while promoting a culture of provider self-assurance and continuous improvement.
General Manager, Engagement & Education (SES Band 1)
As head of this Group you will drive the planning and coordination of engagement and communication activities across ASQA and externally. This will involve the leadership of multi-disciplinary teams, including specialists in regulatory functions, communications, stakeholder engagement and education. Through your leadership, you will influence the development and use of innovative communications and educative materials which will underpin the success and sustainability of ASQA’s engagement initiatives.
To be a strong contender for any of these appointments, you will need to be an outstanding senior executive with a demonstrable record of achievement, preferably gained in a complex and politically sensitive environment of government and public administration. Your passion for delivering transformational change will be complemented by impressive critical thinking skills, a strong understanding of best practice regulation, exceptional leadership, communication and representational capabilities, relevant stakeholder engagement experience, sound judgement and a personal style that engenders trust and respect. An understanding of vocational education and training in Australia, including the regulatory framework, or capacity to develop such an understanding, is highly desirable.
