The mission of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) is to provide dynamic and effective law enforcement to the people of Australia. It provides policing throughout Australia in relation to the prevention and detection of crimes against the Commonwealth, its laws and integrity, and community police services to the Community of the ACT.
The AFP is seeking highly motivated and forward-thinking candidates able to support the strategic direction across the Finance function advising on all aspects of organisational financial management, budgeting, planning, and reporting.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Manager, Finance, (SES Band 1) will provide high level strategic advice and leadership to support the CFO and Executive in shaping the financial direction and financial health of the AFP. In driving business improvement, you will possess strong strategic capacity and the ability to implement and lead innovation and continuous improvement through people. You will develop and maintain effective relationships with portfolio and central agencies to ensure the achievement of all business outcomes and contribute to the development and application of financial, workforce and capability strategies to support overall AFP performance. As a leader, you will build and facilitate a professional inclusive culture and commitment to diversity to ensure community confidence in the integrity, effectiveness and accountability of the AFP and its members.
To be a strong contender for this key role, you must have demonstrable capacity to lead, shape and influence strategic direction; conceptualise and deliver high quality results and advice; a collegiate approach together with well-developed inter-personal and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to build and inspire high performing teams; and superior communication and representation skills.
Relevant CPA or CA qualifications and knowledge are essential.
