We are looking for talented leaders to join the Australian Renewable Energy Agency’s (ARENA) leadership team.
ARENA is a portfolio agency of the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources. Our purpose is to improve the competitiveness of renewable energy technologies and increase the supply of renewable energy through innovation that benefits Australian consumers and businesses.
The Prime Minister and Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction announced in September 2020 a total funding package for ARENA of $1.62 billion including guaranteed baseline funding of $1.43 billion over the next ten years. ARENA has an expanded focus to back innovative emissions reduction technologies across the economy, including in the electricity sector, agriculture, manufacturing, industry and transport.
ARENA is looking for two senior executives who have a solid understanding of public sector governance and delivery as well as strong people leadership and risk management skills. The challenges will involve managing multiple diverse priorities, building strong internal and external relationships, building capability and resilience and demonstrating judgement to allow you be a key part of the team that is delivering ARENA’s strategy, and anticipate and manage risk.
Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Canberra (Ref: 69158)
The COO is a direct report to the CEO and part of the Senior Leadership Team. They will lead continuous improvement ensuring optimal performance across corporate functions including, HR, Projects, Legal, Governance and Risk and ICT, across three cities. An important steward of organisational culture, the COO manages a team of 50 and leads the day-to-day relationship with the Department and represents ARENA with stakeholders and Portfolio COOs.
General Manager, Project Delivery – Canberra (Ref: 69159)
The General Manager is a direct report of the COO and leads the Project Delivery Branch with about 30 workers and responsibility for managing over 240 projects, with an approximate total project value of $980 million. The role leads four teams; Project Solutions, Contract Management Services, Knowledge Sharing and Data and Performance Reporting. An understanding of complex contract management, performance management and metrics and renewable energy technologies would be valuable.
Both roles require the successful candidate to attain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance and as such you need to have Australian Citizenship or have this pending.
