The National Gallery is Australia’s pre-eminent visual arts institution. It holds the national collection, the most significant collection of visual art in the country. The National Gallery is seeking applications from highly motivated, senior and experienced candidates to lead and deliver its capital works program.
As Project Director, Capital Works Taskforce, reporting to the Director, you will provide direction and leadership planning and managing several interrelated projects for this iconic cultural institution with remediation works valued at $87.5 million in the pipeline over the next five years. The immediate focus will be on the design and delivery of complex infrastructure works, developing the procurement strategies, and establishing a governance and project management framework, including contracts and project administration and client-side project management.
To be a strong contender you will understand the importance of this key role and bring relevant and proven senior experience in the management and delivery of significant capital works projects and programs. You will have strong negotiation and engagement skills, be collegiate and responsive and have the ability to anticipate, identify and resolve complex issues and develop solutions. You will also have superior people management skills and be able to build and manage effective relationships with project partners and across government. You will have sound knowledge of public sector governance and be able to manage risk and work effectively to deliver high-quality outcomes that align with the National Gallery’s strategic capital works priorities.
