The Department of Resources has a clear purpose – helping the community and the government make the best use of our renewable and non-renewable land, mineral and energy resources.
Partnerships with our customers and stakeholders are important to us, as we work to deliver policies, programs and services that support industry while reflecting the needs of the broader community.
A key function of the Department is the management of the state’s response to the resolution of native title claims, negotiation and performance of Indigenous land use agreements, and grant and leasing of land to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Native title is vital to Queensland’s pathway towards reconciliation by preserving Indigenous culture, values, and traditions. As part of this ongoing commitment the Department is looking to appoint an Executive Director to lead the Native Title and Indigenous Land Services team.
Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, Lands, this role plays a pivotal role in ensuring whole-of-government priorities, public policy and community perspectives are given strong, appropriate consideration, for decisions that will have wide ranging implications to government and our community.
To be successful you will have proven strong professional leadership and management capabilities and a high level of political astuteness in highly sensitive environments, and exceptional facilitation and communication skills. Your experience in delivering public policy on behalf of Government as well as developing collaborative relationships across Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, will also be an advantage in this role.
