The Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity

The Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity (ACLEI) is an independent agency within the Attorney-General’s Portfolio, established to support the Integrity Commissioner in carrying out his or her responsibilities for detecting, investigating and preventing corrupt conduct in Australian Government agencies with law enforcement functions. The Integrity Commissioner has extensive powers, including the ability to hold coercive hearings, and ACLEI investigative staff are able to use a range of law enforcement powers to assist in the Integrity Commissioner’s investigations.

About the Role

Reporting to the Deputy Integrity Commissioner, and as part of ACLEI’s Executive team, the Executive Director Corporate Services will lead and provide strategic direction for the Corporate Services and Governance Branch with responsibility for the provision of a range of enabling services including:

• Finance (including procurement)
• People and culture
• Governance (performance and reporting)
• Risk and quality assurance
• Audit (internal and external)
• Information and communications technology
• Records and knowledge management
• Security (physical, information, personnel and security governance)
• Corruption Prevention
• Communications (internal and external)
• Property services
• Corporate policies and processes.

This role includes assisting development of individuals within the branch, supporting ACLEI to contribute to policy development, medium and long-term planning, and ensuring effective financial resource management within the Branch.

About You

As Executive Director Corporate Services you will play a key role in the strategic leadership of ACLEI and have day to day management of the Corporate Services & Governance Branch.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding leader to guide ACLEI through a dynamic period of expansion and change. You will have substantial senior management and leadership experience in providing high level strategic advice and direction across a diverse range of functions, along with proven experience in managing resources and complex workloads, setting priorities and coordinating multiple teams to achieve results often within short timeframes. A proven ability to provide impartial and forthright advice based on evidence, and challenge important issues with diplomacy and tact is an important part of this role, requiring highly developed communication skills and demonstrated experience in building and sustaining relationships with colleagues and key external stakeholders.

Your leadership style should be collaborative and engender trust and respect across the agency and when working with stakeholders. It will be important to be able to foster a positive workplace culture, provide a positive influence, lead by example and bring a strong commitment to public service.


• Citizenship – applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
• Security Clearance – this is a Designated Security Assessment Position (DSAP). The occupant of this position must obtain and retain an AGSVA security clearance to Negative Vetting 1.
• Police check – successful applicants are required to undergo a mandatory Australian Federal Police Check.
• Suitability assessment – a rigorous pre-employment character and integrity suitability screening process that can be intrusive in nature including (but is not limited to) detailed background, character, employment, and financial checks.
• Probation – a probation period will apply to any new ongoing engagement to the Australian Public Service.
