The key duties of the position include:

The Treasury is seeking dynamic senior executives with the demonstrated aptitude, leadership and collaboration skills to drive Australia’s economic agenda through influential advice and analysis on economic policy.

Assistant Secretaries at the Treasury play a vital role in the delivery of our purpose.
You will leverage your strong leadership and collaboration skills to provide trusted and influential advice and analysis, engage with our stakeholders and partners, build capability, and ensure effective and efficient delivery of our priorities.

In these roles, you may be responsible for:

  • delivering assessments of current economic conditions and modelling the forecast outlook for the Australian economy that underpin fiscal estimates, and provide advice on the macroeconomic impact of policy options,
  • leading the use and development of economic modelling and econometric analysis to assess structural drivers of the Australian economy and provide advice on structural reform policy options, or
  • delivering costing analysis, modelling and advice on taxation and superannuation policy and leading production of revenue estimates for the Budget and Intergenerational Report.

 

You will also be responsible for leading a Branch, including people and capability management, financial management, and overall responsibility for the delivery of objectives.

Treasury will also use this process to establish a merit pool that may be used to fill other potential vacancies across all areas of Treasury, as required.

Positions are based in Canberra, unless there is a business requirement for candidates to be placed in Sydney or Melbourne.

Eligibility

Employees of the Treasury are required to be Australian citizens and must hold a current security clearance or successfully complete a clearance prior to commencement.
