Economics for the Public Sector

Economics is the science of decision-making. This workshop aims to help public sector managers make better decisions in allocating scarce resources, in pricing and delivering public sector goods and services, and in regulating private sector activity.

You will explore the forces of supply and demand that drive market outcomes and the economic approach to evaluating costs and benefits of public sector activity.

The skills and knowledge learned at this workshop will enable you to make an economic case for or against a policy and be able to understand and respond to an economic brief.

This workshop is led by Professor Ross Guest, Griffith University and subject leader of ‘Government in a Market Economy’ in ANZSOG’s Executive Master of Public Administration.

This workshop will be invaluable to anyone in the public sector who needs to gain a stronger understanding and appreciation of economic principles and their application.
