Financial Regulation, Big Data and AI

The vexed issue of regulating the finance sector post-Royal Commission is on the minds of many parts of the public sector, the finance/banking industry, the commercial law sector and large parts of the ‘public sphere’ in general.

Allied to this broad concern is a growing interest in big data and AI and how it is affecting the finance sector, how the future of algorithms could by-pass regulatory frameworks, and the ethical concerns around these tensions.

This Mandarin Live conference brings these two concerns together in a one-day event with a number of exciting speakers, including leaders from the public sector and from the finance, tech and academic worlds. The day’s format will feature a limited number of keynote addresses followed by expert panels. The day will finish with a dinner address by the world’s leading authority on regulatory strategy, Professor Malcolm Sparrow.

Also confirmed, with more speakers to be announced:

  • Former ACCC Chairman, Allan Fels
  • Technology researcher Dr Suelette Dreyfus
  • The Mandarin’s own digital guru, Tom Burton, will be in the chair.

Unlike most conferences and seminars, the style of the day will be to have fewer sessions, where less is more, and there is time for development of controversial viewpoints by the speakers and interaction with the audience.

More updates on speakers to come as this exciting program builds.
