Mandarin Talks: The Future of Work

“One day offices will be a thing of the past.” Sir Richard Branson

The world has undergone a significant transformation in working and living since early 2020 — and many of the changes are here to stay. Government and public sector workplaces are facing real and immediate challenges. Some have been brought on by the pandemic, more are yet to come as automation, AI and machine learning take hold.

Are current policies fit for purpose? Do job classifications, pay scales and training reflect what is happening and what will happen in the future? Are workplace structures simply too rigid?

The public sector needs to attract the best candidates to ensure its future. It needs to be an attractive and adaptable workplace. It needs to understand the future of work.

Join Private Media‘s Managing Editor Peter Fray, as he tackles these and other questions about the Future of Work with Crissa Sumner, head of employee experience ANZ at Qualtrics, Nik Dawson, economist and data scientist for FutureFit AI, and honorary scholar with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and Sue Williamson, associate professor of Human Resource management in the School of Business at UNSW, Canberra.

The discussion will cover where the jobs will be in the future, what skills and structural changes will be needed, where we are seeing the biggest changes right now, and what will be the implications for the private and public sector.

This event forms a part of the Future of Work Special Series, powered by SAP, and Premium members can register and submit their question to join the discussion.
