Public Sector Risk Management

This risk management course provides answers to the key questions facing public sector managers and staff responsible for risk management. Based upon the ISO31000:2018 Risk Management Standard, this risk management course presents a practical, step-by-step approach to developing a risk management plan and implementing a risk management program for your public sector organisation.

Taught over eight hours, participants will cover a range of content including:

  • What is risk and why are risks a reality for every organisation
  • The upside of risk: why eliminating all risks is not feasible or even desirable?
  • An overview of the ISO31000:2018 Risk Management standard
  • Establishing the context for risk management
  • Risk identification, risk evaluation and risk communication

By the end of this behavioural insights course, you will understand a range of behavioural insights fundamentals including:

  • Define risk management, identify common misconceptions and demystify the language of risk
  • Recognise the necessity of embracing upside risk
  • Understand the key elements of risk management
  • Identify the various risk focus areas
  • Recognise how to analyse and treat risk and identify and address unintended consequences of certain treatments
