WiNNovation: women in innovation series featuring Leigh Angus

Leigh has built a successful career creating technology and digital platforms, programs and teams and has worked in large corporate, research labs, commercialisation units as well as hi-tech start-ups in Israel, China, Australia and now NZ.

Her most recent work consisted of establishing Dominos Pizza’s first international innovation lab DLAB.  Simultaneously, she led the co-development and launch of DRU in 2016, the industry’s first, fully autonomous and commercial food delivery robot and one of Domino’s most popular technology releases across the globe.

She re-established ilab for the Queensland Government as a very successful accelerator with an accompanying venture fund. It’s now running its 9th cohort.  Additionally, she established the University of Queensland’s first student innovation and entrepreneurial co-working space called IdeaHub. The program is now funded by the uni’s Vice Chancellor and is running across all faculties catering to 50,000 students. She also introduced their first student entrepreneur program into China with UQ students interning with start-ups in Shanghai.

Leigh is co-founder and director of which offers software coding and robotics courses in over 50 schools across Australia.  She was co-founder and principal inventor of Wizzyboard, a start-up that developed technology for augmenting online games and toys to touchscreen devices, which was licensed in 2011 and was the recipient of three Australian innovation awards and grants.
