ABOUT THE ROLE
An opportunity exists for a senior leader to join AMSA’s executive team in the key and influential position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO). As the DCEO, you will work in close partnership with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) providing leadership across the organisation to ensure that internal governance, planning, policies and systems are fit-for-purpose and support the successful delivery of the operational and strategic direction of AMSA.
As well as being a trusted partner to the CEO, you will be a key member of AMSA’s executive team and will provide guidance and support to executive General Managers of the Operations, Standards and Response divisions as they work through the complex and broad portfolios of work they are accountable for. The DCEO undertakes the function of Chief Audit Executive and will be required to fulfil acting arrangements in the position of CEO.
AMSA is currently experiencing significant change in our operating environment and the DCEO will actively drive cross-divisional collaboration and change management that will enhance AMSA’s performance as an effective safety and environmental regulator and response agency.
*Note: AMSA levels are different to Australian Public Service (APS) levels. An Executive Contract is recognised as more equivalent to an APS: SES Band 2 or 3 – in role, responsibilities and remuneration.
ABOUT THE PERSON
To be successful in this position, you will be a senior leader with proven experience at an executive level providing leadership in a dynamic and complex environment. You will hold relevant tertiary qualifications to the position and be able to practically demonstrate how those qualifications have complemented your leadership.
The DCEO is an ambassador of the AMSA values, so you will be a leader that leads by example and is held in high regard for your ability to motivate people and deliver results that support the achievement of the vision and mission of the organisation. You will be passionate about delivering the operational and strategic goals of AMSA and identify opportunities to continue to have a positive impact on shaping the safety culture of the maritime industry.
You will have exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven ability to think strategically and develop fit-for purpose solutions to complex organisational challenges, whilst demonstrating effective advocacy, relationship management and representational skills.
You will have a detailed understanding of the regulatory and operational environment in which AMSA operates and an ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance to at least NV2 level, so as to be able to manage matters involving security classified material.
