About Us

The NSW Department of Industry leads the state government’s contribution to making NSW a place where people want to live and work and businesses choose to invest and grow.

The Lands and Water Division (L&W) has the mandate to transform the way it does its business. The Division is entrusted with managing two of the States most important natural resources in the interests of the people of NSW. The purpose and strategy of the new division is to create the conditions for NSW to prosper by fair management of Crown land and water now and for the future.

The Water Renewal Taskforce was established in January 2018 to drive the Water Reform Action Plan reforms within L&W.

About the role

The role drives the water policy reform agenda as part of the Water Renewal Taskforce to effectively implement the findings of the independent Matthews Investigation and Murray-Darling Basin water compliance review, consistent with the NSW Government position set out in the Water Reform Action Plan.  Better management of environmental water is a reform deliverable in the scope of the role.

The role provides expert policy advice to Ministers, the Deputy Secretary Lands and Water and Executive Team on current, evolving or emerging issues impacting L&W Water relating to the Water Reform Action Plan.

About you

You are a results-driven senior executive who is seeking a challenging and highly strategic role where you will be operating in a complex and high pressure environment where tact and diplomacy is paramount.   You will have a collaborative approach to working and excellent open communication skills.

You will have extensive experience in formulating high level policy advice for Executives and Ministers in a complex legislative and stakeholder environment. Additionally, you will possess strong leadership experience with the ability to inspire direction and purpose.
